I received an interview invite but decided not to proceed due to an unprofessional initial HR screening experience.
The role was not introduced clearly. There was no meaningful explanation of the company, project, client, salary range, or actual day-to-day expectations, even though the job description was very broad and read like a wishlist covering BAU operations, CRM support, incidents, change requests, governance, documentation, reporting, and stakeholder management.
The salary budget was also not shared upfront and was only briefly addressed after I asked again.
What made the experience worse was the tone of the call. Before I had even agreed to proceed, I was asked to take notes on interview expectations and was given subjective comments about my speaking style during what I understood to be a casual introductory discussion.
HR should focus on presenting the opportunity, scope, salary range, and process clearly, not making premature personal comments or lecturing candidates. The experience gave me a poor impression of the company’s hiring process and management culture.
