      Entrevista

      This was probably the best interview experience I've ever had. The team asked thoughtful, pointed questions and I felt like I really had a chance to connect with everyone I interviewed with. The design challenge was structured in way that allowed me to highlight both UX/product thinking skills and visual design skills – and it was a fun project to work on! I did read some of the previous interview reviews on here and it looks like the hiring team has made improvements in the short time since the last design interview review was written. Overall, I'm impressed and excited to join the team!

      Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 6 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Madison Reed (San Francisco, CA) en feb 2020

      Entrevista

      -Brief phone screening with a recruiter (normal and oddball questions) -Remote whiteboard challenge with head designer -was told to focus on visuals in the exercise and "assume" a lot of things about the user which is the opposite of what a whiteboard ux design challenge should be about but then I got feedback that I spent too much time on visuals and not enough time asking questions about the user... -Onsite interview -4 1 on 1s and 1 presentation -people were not prepared for these 1 on 1s. Most of them stared at the templated question sheet given to them trying to find a question for me. Lots of not knowing what to ask and not pressing back or going deeper with my answers. There are also a lot of new hires and found out in this interview that they were trying to fill a role for someone who had left a few months prior, not just because they needed more design help. My main concern about this company was their reliability. At the end of the onsite, after I had spent half a day with them and a week working on their presentation, they said that they would get back to me "early next week, Tuesday at the latest" (my interview was on Wednesday afternoon). I just now received an email saying they chose to pursue another candidate 3 WEEKS LATER. This is after I sent a thank you email for their time and following up a week after they said they would get back to me. Don't make promises you can't keep. If they had extended an offer to me this late, I wouldn't have taken it because I want to work for a company that values my time and is courteous/respectful of people that are trying to bring value to their company.

To address your concerns, our interview process is one that is similar to like companies, in order to ensure fit for all parties involved. The interview process for our roles takes a lensed approach for candidate and company related to the daily functionality of the teams and work flow/structure & ability to meet the pace of the business & teams cross functionally. At times, response times related to candidacy could potentially be delayed to various factors, which is never our intention to belabor a process as we understand timing is critical for all parties involved.
