      Entrevista

Oh boy....do I have a story for you about my unfortunate interview process. I was ghosted by Linkedin.... To backtrack, I was part of the Tech layoffs in November. I was distraught and began applying to roles at Linkedin. I was contacted by a recruiter for a role in the Monetization strategy team. 1st round you speak with the recruiter and talk about your background, specific projects you worked on and why Linkedin. After the recruiter, the next step was to take a 1-hour technical test with the hiring manager. In this round, you are given around 7 questions to answer regarding a data dump they give you. That means doing pivot tables, v-look up, sumifs, etc. I did this round with the hiring managers boss (the director) and it went fairly well. I finished 10 minutes early and had a nice convo with the director. After the technical round, next step was a 30 minute call with the hiring manager. Here, we spoke about my experience, projects/assignments I worked on, the impact of my work, why LinkedIn, etc. After my call, I was notified hours later that I would be moving to final rounds with a panel of 2 people. So 45-minute calls with 2 people. I was so excited because I thought this was it! I was going to have a job come January 2023 right after I was laid off.... Now, final rounds: The first interview was with the director that was watching me complete the technical round and the call went super well! She even said "I knew you were going to make it this far!" We spoke about my experience, how I work with other teammates, projects I've done etc. The second panelist was a different vibe. He was very stern, not the friendliest, and did not even smile or make me feel comfortable. Complete opposite from the rest of the team. I even tried to connect with him over the fact that we both lived in Asia, and he did not even bother. I think I did okay in this round as he was asking me very vague questions. I did not feel the most comfortable after that interview with the last panelist but I felt confident that my performance throughout my interviews would out weight my talk with him. Now, to break out the timeline, this process took around 4 weeks. I was contacted right after Thanksgiving break and the final round of interviews took place Wednesday, December 14. I sent me thank you email and waited.... This is the part that upset me the most, I never heard back from them. I emailed them before Christmas break and nothing. After the New Year, I even emailed back and nothing. I was really confused about why they were ghosting me. A company that PRIDES itself on being ahead of the recruitment game and transparency, I honestly lost respect. I emailed again towards the end of January and nothing. At this point, you would tell yourself, "move on, take it as a rejection." However, I did not waste my time and energy interviewing for a company, for them to just ghost me. Especially a company like Linkedin. I just found this so ridiculous!! I emailed again in February (one last time) and nothing. Now, it was now 2 months since the interview and no reply. I wanted closure and I ended up calling the recruiter and left a voicemail to see what happened to the role or if I was not moving forward. The recruiter FINALLY communicates back to me but in an email. This upset me the most. The recruiter emailed me back saying that I was great but one panelist did not see you being a fit. Again, remember the panelist I told you that was cold, he ended up shaking up my chances. So I guess my entire positive interview process was ruined by him. Overall, I was shocked Linkedin did this to me. I was hurt and upset, that a company that encourages a fair interview process would completely GHOST ME!
