This is was definitely one of the worst interview experiences I ever had. I would not reccomend anyone apply here or waste their time.
1) The Job Application, You have to submit your profile and take a 40 minute personality test. I never understood why this is a default test to take, it should only be given out if you are picked to proceed to the next round.
2) HR Interview. The hr person was completely incompetent. He pretty much assigned me a time "9:00 Am Friday" without even asking what was my availability. Luckily I was available and decided to talk to him. Literally 8:59 AM He sends me a message saying oh sorry, I just found something came up, here book for monday at 9:00. At this point I shouldn't have continued with the interview because this is a tell tale sign the company is disorganized. But I felt hell, I am interviewing with other companies so I can maybe use this offer to leverage others.
Talked to him the following monday, and he states he really is glad I have a job because the process at LM is extremely slow so to prepare for that. So I said okay cool, then it was the onsite interview.
Final/Onsite Interview: It consists of 2 hour long interviews, one for technical competency. The other is behavioral with the manager.
For the technical it involved creating a text editor program, It is very similar to the dropbox OA. It consisted of 4 parts, adding a function each time to do something. One of them was like ordering messages by unix time stamp or something etc. It should be pretty straight forward, the last one I used a stack data structure. There were 3 engineers interviewing me, and all of them were not friendly. Which is pretty surprising because usually they are there to help or give hints. These people seem to be using this same problem in every interview, since they only seemed to know one solution and would only harp on that. It makes sense because Liberty Mutual used to be a company that didn't give "technical whiteboarding" interviews, so all of these people joined without that. Either way I passed all test cases, and they were like wonderful etc etc. But the fact they could not help without consulting the only solution they had on hand was a red flag to me.
The behavioral with manger was much like the other interview where they didn't seem too friendly. For me personally I think my biggest strength is behavioral interviews but he had a list of questions he asked and didn't stray from it except to ask one question from my portfolio that I did a couple of years back. This was unexpected for me because I thought he would want to talk about the projects I did in my current job instead of something I did back in school.
We then concluded my interview. Then I had to reach out to the recruiter 3 times to ask for the status of my interview. Each time he would say something like "Oh I took PTO" "Just catching up, thank you for being patient" "I will send details about salary" but never did. This shows you how disfunctional this company is. This went on for 2 weeks, before I said that this wasn't worth my time anymore, and I stopped trying to reach out to the recruiter. This may be very team based but having a bad recruiter seemed to deal the final blow in having any interest in working with this company.
