I was initially excited to engage with Lemonade after being reached out to multiple times by the VP of Product regarding my specific expertise in Workflows and Agentic AI. Unfortunately, the actual screening process was highly uncoordinated and did not reflect the innovative image the company projects.

I had a 1-hour interview that was quite pleasant and well-structured. After that, I was asked to complete a detailed home assignment. I invested a lot of time and effort into the presentation and submitted it on time. A few days later, I received a rejection with the explanation that my work "didn’t show depth in the insurance world" - which I understand, as I don’t come from an insurance background. That said, it would have been more fair and efficient to assess that earlier in the process, rather than after a demanding take-home task. The experience felt like a waste of time, and the process lacked respect for the candidate’s effort. If deep industry knowledge was a deal-breaker, it should’ve been addressed upfront. I hope the company reconsiders how it screens for role fit before asking for heavy take-home work.
