Entrevista
I got the interview through my career services at my college. The first interview was an on-campus interview with a current store manager and an assistant store manager. Both of them were very personable and friendly and this is what really sold me on the position--the people are genuine and super friendly. That's just how Kohl's culture is.
After that first interview, which was a very simple 30-minute gig with pretty easy behavioral-type questions, I received an email inviting me to second-round interviews at a local Kohl's store. I had two group interviews with store managers, recruiters and district managers. Again, some behavioral questions, but some situational too. Make sure you emphasize your management/leadership potential and your love for working in teams.
Then, an assistant manager and a past MIT intern gave us a store tour. After the tour, the other interviewees and I were divided into teams and were asked to read and present a solution to a case study. The case study was ridiculously easy and the presentation wasn't serious at all. We basically just read the case out loud, shared our proposed solutions, and called it a day. I think by then the managers and recruiters had already made their hiring decisions, that's why they didn't give us feedback on the case.
Culture-wise, Kohl's is a very Midwestern company that emphasizes "family values" and a tight-knit culture. I definitely got a feel of that during interviews, and it was great. The people are what got me excited for the position, 'cause I could see myself working with them. They're really nice and friendly.
This position will be great for you if you're like me and get bored with desk-job cubicle culture and want to get your feet wet in management. I'm still not sure if retail is my thing, but management definitely is, and this position will help you get that leadership/managerial experience.

It was very simple and was actually enjoyable. Everyone I interviewed with was super friendly and easy to talk to! I first had a one on one interview with a nearby store manager. Then my second interview came a few weeks later. It was a group interview with an easy case study/ presentation. Then there were two one on one interviews with a store manager and then the Division Manager.

The interviewer was nice and friendly. I left with positive feeling but it was heartbreaking to realize when I didn't get the job, especially when I was really looking forward to it.

Tell me about a time you didn't get what you think you deserved?

The interview process was very negative. There were two women and one of them did not seem interested in me at all. She seemed to force my answers to be short when she would look down at her paper and start saying her next question. I did not feel comfortable during the interview and she made me just want to walk out the door. She was not a very good interviewer.
