Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 3 días. Acudí a una entrevista en Iowa Interstate Railroad (West Amana, IA) en jul 2024

      Entrevista

To summarize, I have never walked out of an interview wondering if a company was a good fit for me or not. Have I had questions after an interview? Yes. But NEVER questioning myself and somewhat disappointed. To give some background, I had spoken with Iowa Interstate previously. They seemed to really play it up and I wanted to be a part of what they had going on, so I applied. Went to the interview and within that 45 minute window, only about 4 or 5 questions were asked to get to know me as an individual. The rest were questions about my current situation, when I could start, or questions to responses that I gave. They could not piece together where we met, though I have told them several times that I have only been in contact with them off and on for about a year. That was kind of a, "Wow, okay..." moment. The thing that was a real slap in the face to me was that they suggested they put me on intern status, after I explicitly said that I wanted to work full-time. The thing about their intern program, there's nothing even setup. The intern program is nothing more than an idea at this current time, with nothing cementing it as far as details, how it works, what you can do, etc. Essentially, what they were looking for, was to pay someone less money to do the same job as everyone else without outright saying that. While it was nice to disclosed this information during the interview, you would be working the oddball shifts and you would not be getting anymore than one guaranteed holiday. While this wasn't a big turn off for me, it definitely didn't sit too well with me. Overall, I was left questioning myself, my choices, whether my experience really meant anything, and so on. When people asked me what I thought of the interview, company, etc, I told them, "It's not a hard no, not a hard yes, more like a soft no. You know how when you do a survey and 1 is strongly disagree and 5 is strongly agree? Yeah, I'd say I'm at like 2.5" I looked at reviews before I went to the interview, and maybe that's what really made me feel the way I did, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure how Glassdoor lists questions, hopefully the questions I entered show up on this review, but I kid you not that there were only about 5 original questions in a 45 minute timeframe.
