Three interviews: first with the internal recruiter, then with the direct manager/supervisor and team members and then with senior department leadership. You had to submit writing samples and complete a written exam.

I worked hard on my application and wrote a thoughtful cover letter, as well as had a referral. I had an initial phone screening interview for a position, and it went amazingly! I really connected with the recruiter, he said he “thoroughly enjoyed our conversation” and that he will get back to me that Friday after talking to the hiring manager about next steps. I sent a thank you email after that interview, and he never got back to me, for more than two weeks, despite saying he would contact me. I sent another follow up and then I received a generic rejection email from their portal a few hours later (finally). That email wasn’t even from the recruiter himself. It was so incredibly rude to keep me in the dark and the whole thing makes no sense because the interview went so well and he was very supportive of me moving to the next steps. I’m just baffled because he literally ghosted me, and didn’t even have the decency to tell me they moved on with another candidate or SOMETHING. Recruiters are the worst. Maybe instead of ghosting, have the decency to spend one minute to email a candidate, who is an actual human who you had a conversation and connected with, instead of not doing what you said you would, and ignoring their follow-ups. Extremely disrespectful
