I was called fairly soon after submitting my resume. I had a phone interview with someone who was enthusiastic, knowledgeable about the product and seemed stoked about working at IXL. She told me she would like to move me forward to the next step which was a writing test.
If I'm speaking honestly, the writing test was one of the most extensive, tedious and ridiculous tests I have completed to date. It involved specific "real" product copy scenarios that required site research and also required the candidate to sign up for a "free trial" account on IXL to complete the writing test. After I submitted the completed test, which I put careful thought and energy into, I didn't receive a notice about next steps for a week. I emailed the person I spoke to on the phone and she said she would let me know within the week. That never happened.
To make matters worse, I was consequently spammed with IXL emails due to the "free trial" I had to sign up for to take the writing test. This was very frustrating for me and awkward when I had to email their customer service team to ask to remove me from the list.
To this date I never heard from IXL that I was not moving forward in the process, but subsequently found the job posting on a job board. I saw it re-posted for weeks and weeks, which tells me they had a quite difficult time finding their ideal candidate.

Tell me what your favorite IXL product is, and why.
As many others have stated, they have unethical interviewing processes that require at-home assignments. I also didn't appreciate that they used your candidate information (home address) to send coupons and marketing materials to after. Seems like they were mining for competitor information and current marketing trends in the SaaS sector. Don't waste your time.

Phone screen with recruiter, then provide 3 work samples (without any context so this will be super broad), then phone screen with the HM who will ask you questions unrelated to the role, finally you will be asked to submit a second case of work samples that will have 5+ questions and additional context. They are fishing for Too many rounds of interviews, coordinator was a little error prone and missed appt times. They required a application vs just resume, process took a long time. Think they were fishing for ideas and free consulting as someone else mentioned. Getting hit with a second round of work samples was such a turnoff. Don't waste your time!
