I applied online and in a week, I was contacted by a recruiter. She asked me a few questions on my resume and deep dive into my favorite project. After 10 days, I was contacted again for an onsite interview. They flew me out to Maryland. Gave a nice hotel to stay. The day before the interviews, we had a dinner with the managers at a nice restaurant. Everybody was nice and told us about the company. The interview day: Each interview is for 45 mins. Round 1: A principal software engineer came 5 mins late. She went straight into my resume and asked me to describe my internship. She asked me to write a HTML form and validate it client side using Javascript. She then asked me to write two functions in Java. Details in the interview Questions' section. Round 2: He had a paper in his hand which had a few topics. He asked me questions on Java, Multi threading, Databases. He did not ask any coding questions. He was very uninterested in the interview and trust me, he partially fell asleep, woke up and started asking me the same questions again. Round 3: A manager came. He was outright rude. He asked me about myself. Before I could complete, interrupted me and asked me rate myself in Java out of 10. I rated 7 since I was not familiar with Servelets and Applets. He opened his laptop. Looked up questions and started asking me. These were questions I had never heard of in my entire life. Asked me to implement a garbage collector. He was very rude with the way he talked. Something I did not expect from a company like Hughes. That is the moment I decided to never apply again. After this round, he met with my next interviewer, told her something. Round 4: The most difficult of all rounds. She sat down, took a paper and asked me to catch streaming data from 5 different sources, run a process for each, and update the fields in a database in 15 minutes. I could not do it. She left in 20 mins while the interview was supposed to be 45 minutes.
