I had a very negative experience interviewing at HubSpot. I was very surprised to have such negative reviews because I have several friends that work at Hubspot and speak very highly of the inclusive and compassionate culture.
Perhaps it was the time that I was applying, but I felt that the interview process was incredibly rushed and impersonal. As another reviewer recounts, I expect that the recruiter had upwards of 30 interviews in one day. Because of this, it was very clear that both people I met with were just merely going through the motions, rather than taking the time to carefully qualify all of the candidates. Having taken time off from work and put a lot of time and energy into preparation, I was irked to be hasted through my interview. I was asked to participate in the next round of interviews but I knew it was not going to be the right fit.
To compound my frustration, the recruiter even went so far as to refer to me as “his pipeline.” As someone in sales, I understand that pipeline is a term that is used for internal purposes. However, I felt that it was a very dehumanizing way to refer to a candidate, making me feel more like a number than a person. My interview experience very much contradicted the transparent, genuine culture that my friends had prepared me to expect.
