I applied through an employee referral. I received an email a few days later. The next step was a video interview. It’s a one-way video interview to complete within 72 hours. I received a total of 4 questions. You have 60 seconds to read the question and to think about your answer, and other 60 seconds to answer it.
Now, if you are the kind of person which love to be on a stage, you got this! The questions are easy, and the process is very fast. If you are like me instead, awkward and uncomfortable in front of a camera, well do something to relax and calm yourself down because this is your only chance!
It’s an easy interview, but I found it extremely difficult because I’m not used to do interviews, that’s it! I’m sure I’m qualified for the job, I have the experience and probably also the personality that they are looking for but I screwed up. It was that kind of situation where you have the answer, but your mind goes blank. Panic, mayday, mayday!
I got an email the day after my video interview where they told me that we do not have a mutual fit, of course…How could I blame them? I was terrible.
Please, do a favor to yourself: don’t be like me! You really do not need to panic, no reasons!
Even though my heart is broken right now, I’m still in love with HubSpot.
My feedback to the HR department is: I know that you are busy finding the perfect candidate, that you see a lot of these video interviews every day, and you are not psychologists. But, giving a little feedback about why a person is not a good fit would be beneficial for that person. Thank you very much for reading!
