It was pretty simple. The first interview was a phone interview with a lower level HR person basically just to go over salary and stuff to make sure you're okay with what they're offering, then in-person interview with the area manager, then HR again. Then a drug test.

Give me an example of time that you've solved a very difficult situation. What was the issue? What did you do? What was the outcome? Would you have done anything differently?
There were two interviews. One was at the local branch or airport where you were applying. The other was at the regional headquarters in Port Newark NJ. This second one was done by the regional personnel manager. The first one was done by the area manager.
Interview consisted of reviewing your past jobs to see if you had a customer service background. This is important because as a mgr at Hertz you will be involved in quite a few stressful interactions with renters. Typical scenario is dealing with a customer with a confirmed reservation and there are no cars available.

Neither interview was really structured with a series of pre-selected questions. Mainly the interviewer was inquiring about your background. Any customer service job is a plus as is any sales experience. Sales of various insurance products (loss damage waiver) and "upselling" customers into larger vehicles is strongly emphasized for counter reps.
