I received a phone call a few hours after applying for the position. I was not asked if it was a convenient time to have a conversation (it wasn't really, but I tried to make it work) I was then basically told that the position would be too much pressure and too fast paced for me as I have been out of work for two years after having a child. I found this pretty narrow minded, especially as I was given no opportunity to prove them wrong or give examples of the various things I have done beyond being a parent over the time. I was then given feedback regarding my CV which I didn't ask for, and honestly I'm not that concerned about the other opinions of a company who seem to think a parent is incapable of working in a fast paced and high pressure environment. The only question they asked was why there was a gap in my CV, which I had explained in my cover letter was because I moved city and had a child, then they didn't ask anything else. They had already decided a new parent wasn't a right fit for the job so should have just sent an email, rather than phoning.
