I reached out to GoPro, following a job posting, and was contacted by a recruiter. I had a 20 minute phone conversation with the recruiter that was pretty standard fare, and near the end of the call, I basically priced myself out of the position. I thought the rec salary range was super low for a Bay Area CD -- making me think that this position might just be a senior writer job, not actual management. Even though I priced myself above the salary range, the hiring manager wanted to speak with me. We had a great conversation (I actually thought they'd change their mind and offer me the job). But that's as far as it went. Really wanted it to work out, cool company.
