I applied for an open position at Global Rescue towards the end of December and was contacted the very next day on the phone to talk more about the position and to submit a portfolio of some of my past work. Everyone that I talked to was very enthusiastic throughout the process. Unfortunately the company seems very unorganized and chaotic. Every time that we spoke the issue of salary was brought up by them, and my main point of contact repeatedly promised to call me back the next day to let me know what their range was. These promises were never kept and I often would not hear from them for a week or more. Normally this would be fairly standard I suppose except for the fact that they were repeatedly promising to get back to me the next day. Over the course of a month I spoke with multiple people at the company several times about my background and abilities, during which they kept telling me that they wanted to fly me out to Boston ASAP to interview me in person. Then about a month later I received a rather blunt email stating that the interview process would not continue as they were actually looking for a graphic designer and that the work that I had submitted wasn't what they were looking for. Keep in mind that the position that I applied for was a Marketing & Design Manager which is entirely different from a Graphic Designer, with an entirely different job description and salary expectations. Unfortunately their overall lack of professionalism and disorganized approach to everything ended up wasting both my time as well as theirs. It seems like a fun company but I anticipate that working there would be an unorganized and constant headache.
