Me postulé a través de una recomendación de un empleado. El proceso tomó 2 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en GitLab (Los Angeles, CA) en jun 2020
Entrevista
The interview process started off with a take home assessment which I had 6 days to complete. If you do well on the take home assessment, GitLab then schedules your first Zoom interview with a Technical Recruiter.
After speaking with the recruiter and discussing your qualifications, you are then scheduled for a 90 minute technical interview via Zoom. During this interview, a GitLab Support Engineer walks you through a variety of break-fix/bug-fix/customer scenarios.
If all continues to go well, you will be scheduled for a number of behavioral interviews where your experience is discussed, along with several situational questions.
Overall, the interview process was great. The interviewers all did a great job of making me feel comfortable which allowed for the interviews to proceed in a more natural, conversational manner. After each interview, I honestly became more and more excited to begin working for GitLab.

The take home assessment covered a variety of topics including Bash/Ruby, Linux, Git, and General Support.
The technical interview requires you to fix a broken GitLab application. You are provided an SSH login and must troubleshoot a variety of errors. You will want to be familiar with checking ports services are using, basic linux commands, error log locations, and basic PostgreSQL queries. You will also be asked to write out a response to several example customer responses.
The last 2-3 interviews are more conversational. I was asked questions about my experience, GitLab's Values (CREDIT), why I am leaving my current position, why I was interested in working for GitLab, and a number of situational questions in order to ensure I was a good fit with GitLab. I would recommend reviewing the GitLab Values listed on their website and think of some personal experiences you can use as examples in relation to these Values.

It was a bit harsh, I passed the technical interview. I was able to solve all the issues but then got a one word regurgitated message from a recruiter telling me I didnt pass that stage.

Troubleshooting different Linux logs in a GitLab failed instance
It was great. The process had multiple stages and took a while, as they are genuinely focused on finding the best talent that truly matches their unique team atmosphere and culture.
It started with a fair first assessment, followed by a recruiter call, and concluded with a technical interview that involved troubleshooting scenarios. The interviewers for this round are team members.
