Entrevista
Only had the initial call with the recruiter before the email rejection a few weeks later. Not sure why I had such a bad pit feeling that the job wasn’t going to work out. Well, actually, on second thought, I think the extremely judgmental tone in the recruiter’s voice when he asked me, “WHY WOULD YOU EVEN LEAVE YOUR JOB AFTER SUCH A SHORT TIME???!!!” might’ve been a dead giveaway. He also probed for more detail after I gave him a reason (which puts the candidate in a position to speak badly about their current employer) and he obviously shouldn’t have done that. It was clear to me that he let his own personal biases get in the way of looking at my actual skills and what I could bring to the role. Plus I had been in my current role for 8 months already, which is not a “short time” in my opinion. A “short time” would be well below 6 months. Likely, by the time I got through the whole process, I would’ve already been in the role for well over a year which further negates the “short time” argument. I really wish these recruiters and hiring managers would be a bit more open minded to various backgrounds and stop eliminating/judging people based on factors that mean nothing. The only thing they should really be concerned about is if a person is qualified to do the job. Likely, they’ll end up hiring a candidate that can’t even do the work effectively just because they stayed somewhere else for 5+ years when they could’ve had the candidate that’s very effective and efficient in their role with over 14 years of experience in their industry, but they overlooked because of the “short time.” At least, for my sake, there are other, and I can only presume, more open minded places to work so I shall acquiesce from this situation. This too shall pass.
I was contacted by the interviewer by email. She got my email from my Linkedin. We had one interview and then three months after they replied me saying that they have reviewed my application and it will no longer be considered. It was a really nice interview though very conducive environment. It was more like a friend chat and that made me very relaxed and confident.
Straightforward, not too difficult. Feedback was pretty quick. The recruiter got back to me within a week or so. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. To be or not to be?
First round is a general call with recruiter, just chat about your experience and about the role.
Second is a 1hr semi technical interview with hiring manager. Goes over your CV, experience, stuff related to the role.
Third is a Technical take home test.
Fourth and final is a review of technical take home test with Hiring manager and senior devs.
