I applied online for a part-time Consultation Agent position. My previous experience includes almost two years in food service and six months in web development. After filling out the profile and uploading your resume, there’s a personality questionnaire that takes about 15 or 20 minutes. I got a call two days later from a hiring manager; all she asked was when I would be available for an interview. The interview would be scheduled for the next day in the afternoon.
Upon entering these store, I was met by the Deputy of Counter Intelligence and led into the asset protection room for the interview (as the GS offices were occupied by district managers). She asked typical interview questions, such as “Describe a time you felt effective when part of a team,” “Describe a time you had to deal with a disruptive client”, and “Describe the coworkers at your most current job and what you do and don’t like about them.”. She described the duties of the position and asked about scheduling. After all was said and done, she scheduled my second interview for a couple of days later.
Two days later, I arrived for the second and final interview with the store’s general manager. He took me into the main office in the back of the store. I sat down and he asked me some much different questions (“What do you see this job being?”, “How would you deal with theft?”, etc.), some of which included talking about other stores and competitors. After four or five short questions, he welcomed me to the team, told me my wage outright (no negotiation), and said I should expect an email within 24 hours to accept the job offer, print an on-boarding booklet, schedule training, authorize a background check, and schedule a drug test. We shook hands and I left the store.
Overall, the interview was primarily personality-based with some sales questions sprinkled in. It was a very easy and enjoyable process.
