Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en GEP en dic 2017

      Entrevista

There was a mad rush to get me to interview for the position posted. I had several phone interviews with HR, recruiters and the hiring manager. After scheduling a 4-hour in-person interview they needed to switch dates last minute. When I showed up for the interview in their corporate headquarters, the recruiter I had been in contact with to schedule the time and date did not know who I was or what I was interviewing for and then had me wait about 30 minutes past my scheduled time so she could find the space to conduct an interview. I sat in a conference room and again waited for about 15 minutes until 'someone' was available to interview me. It was not the hiring manager, but instead just someone there were able to find. We chatted about her role at the company and was nice enough so we had a good conversation. After meeting with her I again waited for about 30 minutes until the hiring manager was available. The recruiter was running around checking on me every once in a while to let me know that she was bugging the manager to come by but 'oh boy is he so busy'. So I waited and waited. Finally I was able to speak with the hiring manager and we had a really nice conversation about my experience and my work philosophies. This is after we already had an hour-long phone conversation before this in person meeting, so many things were repeated. Towards the end of the conversation I asked when a decision was going to be made and when is the start date. The manager let me know that 4 other people were going through these interviews still. That to me is crazy. 4 other people are also having 4-hour long interviews for this junior role within a small company? Wow, that left me completely defeated. After the manager left the room, he said he wanted me to meet with leadership if possible, so again I waited. And waited. And finally the recruiter brought the first person back to sit with me while I waited some more to speak with the head of HR. He wasn't sure who I was either and what job I was there for, so we had an 'informal' conversation and it was basically a waste of time. So yes, indeed the entire visit to the office took 4 hours, but ultimately I only had about 2 hours of conversation with people and only 1 with the decision maker. To add to an already annoying day, the hiring manager asked me again to send him 'homework' Before the in-person meeting, I had already given 'homework' to the hiring manager for his review, which he clearly did not look at. When he asked me details about what I sent to him, he did not open the attachments and yet was critical and said it wasn't exactly what he wanted, so I would need to send him more information. Which I did the very night after the in person interview. After the interview I did not hear any feedback or anything from the recruiter, from HR, from the hiring manager. I would say sometimes this is normal not to hear back but I had already had three rounds of interviews with this company, so I was expecting some more communication. Also, they spent a lot of time during the interview process telling me how important recruiting and hiring was to them and how they wanted to be seen as great place to work and be able to compete with fortune 500 companies for the best people. Hmmm...letting someone sit in an empty conference room for 2 hours is not the best way to build a good reputation. After emailing the recruiter and HR rep more than 3 times to stay in touch after the interview, I was told the position was filled. Oh well. My final impression is that they are highly unorganized company with bigger ambition than they will ever be able to achieve. I actually think I would have been able to contribute some good ideas to improve their recruitment process and brand identity but it is most definitely for the better that I will not be joining the company.
