Arrived early and was led into a conference room by reception and she said she'd let them know I was waiting. Waited in there for 20 minutes and began emailing the contact to make sure she was aware I was there. She came down and went through some preliminary questions. Then I went through the actual interview with the individual I'd be reporting to (who was running late) and shared some previous examples. We ended early and he rushed off as I was saying goodbye. I was told they would follow-up, but never heard from them again.

Both interviewers asked why I left my first job (where I'd been for 17 years). Once I explained, they kept digging as though there was more to the story. They spent more time on that than asking about my qualifications for the job.

Seems like they have a policy to interview external candidates even though they have an internal or known candidate they already decided to promote/hire. HR intervirew first followed by hiring manager interview. HR manager didn't seem to know much about the role and was short in answering questions. Hiring financial Controller belittles work experience and ability. Preview of the type of behavior you will be dealing with.
