About two weeks after applying online I received an e-mail from a recruiter setting up a 1-hour remote meeting with the team.
Separately, a different technical recruiter reached out for a 30-min chat to prepare me for the team interview.
The team were pleasant enough, as was the technical recruiter. Unfortunately the role was based in a different province and relocation expenses were not on the table.
This is an IT equipment company that has pivoted into Cybersecurity, but still wants employees in the office (eventually). As the Western Canadian office is a source of cheaper talent for this American corporation, I probably didn;t move to the next stage (Technical Interview) as i) I didn't attend UBC and ii) I'm in a different province.
As part of my interview prep I *did* add two of their free IT certs to my resume though, so it wasn't a total loss.
