Briefly describe HR process.... My review is positive but I have manged expectations. FEMA HR is the equivalent of the battle from 300. Everyone wants in and mistakes are made on both sides. Its a long process because of the signal noise and honestly some people get though leaving you with the impression that HR takes anyone but they don't. It comes down to the Federal hiring standards having years of experience somehow equates out of being good at it I can tell you once in the field you will look across the JFO and think "everyone in here was the most qualified applicant" and you will die a little inside.
So interview process.
Apply
Give it a month or more (up to 5 before you give up on it)
they will email or call to setup an interview (everything from this point seems to have an arbitrary ASAP deadline that HR sets on you for no real reason.)
Interview is easy, they want to know what you think about your past and how it applies.
The hard part "hurry up and Wait" you will wait months for paperwork for security and tentative and final offers that are often different. with huge amounts of time between everything.
Eventually you make it to where the light starts to shine you get a final offer and a training start date for FIWA/EMO Tier IV training then eventually deploy tot he field and get training on the job there.

Called into JFO and asked a few questions about employment background. Told to return next day for work. Filled out forms and sat in a room for the next week until they decided what they wanted to do with me.
