Initial phone call with SVP of Product
6 onsite interviews with: marketing director, data analyst, engineer, engineering manager, SPM, Director of Product,
1 final presentation with everyone you interview with
Hands-down the best interview experience I've ever had. Here is why:
1. My flight to NY was canceled and I ended-up rescheduling to a very early morning flight. The recruiter told all interviewers to be wary of my horrible traveling experience and indeed, everyone I met was super considerate of how I felt in terms of fatigue. The interview schedule was also shifted to give me more time in the morning to unwind from my flight.
2. First/last question from every interviewer was "do you need any breaks, water or snacks?"
3. My lunch interview was with two people and they paced it so well I was able to finish eating while talking to both of them
4. The recruiter was super transparent with the hiring process at the end of the day, and gave me a thorough tour of the office before I left
Etsy really believes in delivering the best interview experience.

Coming up with the right presentation was the hardest part, the rest were easy. I did enough research and brainstorming for the presentation that I was able to answer most of the product questions during the interview.
Call with Etsy recruiter followed by an hour long call with the hiring manger. Did not hear anything back for 5 weeks. Recruiter reached out and said they wanted to go to next step. Had 4 interviews and then no word for 3 more weeks. Etsy states their goal is to keep commerce human but apparently they aren't trying at all to keep the hiring process human.

100% behavioral interview questions. I had 4 interviews and each had 3 behavioral questions. Many of the questions were the same which made no sense

Recruiter was very accessible and asked genuine questions about experience, why interested in role and company etc. There was significant delay in getting a clear update on next steps after multiple follow ups.

Recruiter screen, hiring manager interview, and then onsite. Recruiters are GREAT and so are all the other people. Hiring manager interview was mostly behavioral, plus a mini case (typical q like "design x for y") and onsite was 90% behavioral except an mini analytics case.

What's the hardest problem you've ever solved? what's something cool you learned recently? how do you make sure you're meeting expectations? time you had to give difficult feedback? time you received negative feedback? time you received negative feedback you disagreed with? time you made a bad decision? time you identified a problem others didn't know about? how do you teach someone something new? time you had to anticipate a problem and prevent it?
