      Entrevista

Have you ever walked into job interview and known right off that the company is not going to be a good fit? Well let me save you the trouble. This was my second interview, after meeting with an HR rep. That was actually an pleasant, informative meeting. Firstly, I arrived five minutes early for the interview. After calling my contact from the lobby, I waited 12 additional minutes for someone to get me and bring me to the interview. The interviewer, a VP of something, made a criticism of me being late and that the interview would have to be cut short because she had a meeting to go to. That did not start us on a good foot. She described the workplace, the position, etc. The job was well within my experience and abilities. She then told me that not disclosing my salary history in my application was "suspicious" behavior. I don't know what was suspicious about it; my previous salary is none of their business and they should be paying people for their skills and value. We finally got to the part where she told me that the position paid 2/3 of what I had been making. That pretty much was where I mentally checked out and the rest of the interview was an exercise in "how do I get out of here." Unsurprisingly, the job wasn't offered to me, but I had already made up my mind that I wasn't going to work there. My impression of the workplace is that is a mess. The business model is thin, the employees are overworked and underpaid and the managers predatory.
