Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 2 meses. Acudí a una entrevista en Epic en may 2020

      Entrevista

I had an initial phone interview and then had to complete several assessments. After that I went through the virtual interview process where I was interviewed by 2 different writers and a recruiter. Everyone I talked with was very nice but it was a very time-consuming process.

      Entrevista

The phone screening went very well, and I really liked my interviewer. The next step was to take the online assessments. I had read previously that other people had stated that they were required to do things totally unrelated to writing on the assessments, and they were not wrong. There was a coding test for a "non-technical" interview (for some reason) as well as logic and mathematics questions. Why I needed to accurately answer how "Mrs. Randolph" was or was not related to "Bessie May" who may or may not have had a "yellow shirt" or an "old cow", I have no idea. There was not a single writing prompt or test to give me an opportunity to showcase my writing ability, which I found bizarre. The ProctorU experience was alright but not great. There was a malfunction with the software just as I had finished the exam and I ended up having to take the entire third part over again. Overall, the phone call experience was great but the rest of it felt irrelevant to the actual job I would be applying to. I had asked the interviewer and even sent an email to HR (who never responded) asking if the assessment results on technical questions would influence their decision in not hiring me for a non-technical job. The interviewer assured me that it wouldn't, but I can see that is not the case. Epic needs to tailor their interview processes to different sectors of their company. Other interview reviews mentioned feeling unfairly evaluated and I have to agree with them. For a technical role, I am sure you won't have any issues if that is your background and what you apply for. But even if you apply to a non-technical position, you will still be evaluated at technical benchmarks, which to me, does not make sense.

      Entrevista

Pretty interesting interview process -- unlike anything I've experienced thus far in the work world. Started with an online personality test, followed by an easy phone interview that basically involved confirming my resume and hearing some cool things about the job. After that, there were some tests. I don't know how I did on those -- I didn't study for them and am not a math guy, and there was math, but nothing too bad. Then completed a writing test. Within a week or so, I had an invite to the campus for the final interview. That was where I got really excited about the job. I am not a recent college graduate, I've been in the work world for about nine years, and a workplace like this is very rare. Everyone was very friendly and the vibe was casual and open. Started with a presentation about what Epic does and the importance of the work they do, then had a conversation/interview with a writer who essentially described the various roles I'd fill if I got the job. Then met with another writer who gave me a list of hypothetical problems I might face as a writer for the company and we talked through how I'd handle them. The HR interview had been the part I was nervous about, but it was just as laid back as everything else -- in part because I'd spent a couple of hours immersed in talking about the job and getting excited about it, it felt a lot more natural than the average interview. Then there was a tour of the campus and lunch. I had just come off crutches for a bone bruise in my knee -- I told them about it a couple weeks ahead of time, and they were ready for me with a golf cart chauffeur. A really nice HR person came along for the ride and we had a nice chat. I was really impressed that they'd organized that so I could still have a fair shot. I came to that interview day undecided on whether I really wanted to work there and left knowing I did. My advice is to take the 'business casual wear' approach to heart, not just in how you dress for it, but just come and be yourself.
