I was contacted by a hiring manager who conducted a brief face to face interview (job description, salary requirements, why I wanted to leave my current job, etc), then he asked me to come in for a second interview with a group of interviewers. The second interview was pleasant and I was asked basic questions, however, they did not seem to be prepared as one of them asked why I wanted to leave my current job and my response was for better benefits/salary. One of the interviewers told me right on my face this job does not pay well — this was unprofessional and awkward! They asked for 3 job references. I interviewed on a Wednesday, next day the HR person was already trying to get a hold of my references. She seemed to be in a hurry and according to my references her questions were not pertinent to the job.
