I had three interviews: First with the talent acquisition, second with two managers, and third with two partners.
The first interview and second interviews were fantastic and the interviewers were welcoming and inviting. Standard questions on clarification of resume, describing experiences, and what about Eide Bailly I liked.
The third interview is where it fell apart. There were two partners: One male and one female
The male one was fine but the female one ruined it. She told me that since I have no governmental accounting experience, she is concerned I will not be able to adapt or learn on the fly.
She seemed to forget that she was not born into public or government accounting. Someone gave her that chance but apparently, that benevolence she received should not be extended to other people. Moreover, she only believes that people who lives, breathes, and dreams accounting is suitable to fulfill the position. She is looking for what we call the "purple unicorn" candidate. Very disappointed and upset with her.
Shame as I had an enjoyable experience with the male partner, the managers and the talent acquisition. It only takes one person to ruin the experience.
