Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó 2 semanas. Acudí a una entrevista en Ehrenkranz Partners (New York, NY) en nov 2014

      Entrevista

Got an interview through a recruiter. Met with 5 people, including 4 members of the team and a senior level person. One of the team members was very nice and easy to talk to. He told me about the company and how the job allowed him to take a long time off work to travel. The others seemed a lot more reserved, somber looking and inexperienced at interviewing. My understanding was that they didn't want someone with any aspiration for professional growth. The wanted to know why I was leaving my employer. I told them about wanting to learn more about the industry and grow professionally. I could tell that they were not satisfied with the answer and told me there was no growth in that role. Maybe they expected I'd say something negative about my current employer? They also seemed concerned that I had an MBA and asked me if having an MBA meant that I wanted to start my own business soon and not work for somebody else. I was surprised at such a "conclusion". I understood no one on the team had an MBA and it made them worried that I was too ambitious and would be leaving soon. One of the interviewers kept talking about how he'd been there 8 years and how he enjoyed that he had a low stress job, doing the same thing everyday and being able to leave early. He asked me what my weaknesses were and then made a completely wrong conclusion on the spot and thought it was funny. A very unpleasant guy. Another interviewer got really puzzled by a simple question I asked her about the job. The senior level person I talked to, asked a few questions but showed no reaction to the answers - a stone face. He stressed how he wanted to hire someone who was willing to stay in the operations role and not wish to work in the front office or leave to work at a bigger company. He also talked about how they were just looking for a good fit with the team at this point in the process. One of the challenges that he complained about with the hires was keeping them interested and motivated. The position was open because a person they hired before left to work at a bigger company after just a few months. My impression was that the company only hired through a recruiting agency that sent them a few candidates to choose from. The recruiter explained to me that there was nothing wrong with my background or experience, the team just liked the other candidate better. I think the problem was that the recruiter did not offer them a good fit by sending me there. If they din't want a candidate with MBA to begin with, I should have been filtered from the process before I even went there, had my references checked and wasted my time. Choose a better recruiter.
