I was searching for a reputable job position and found EPAM. The job requirements perfectly matched my skills and experience so I decided to give it a shot. Applied through their own web form and received response within a week. The HR representative was really nice, she assessed my experience and gave me sufficient highlights about the company. The next interview was with the technical recruiter (English language only) He said he wasn’t at all experienced with the technical-administrative stuff that the job actually demanded so I ended up talking about the ins and outs of the role responsibilities while matching the job expectations against my past and present experience, team management and future goals. One week later I received a notification that I wasn’t selected. I was really surprised and requested feedback about my performance. The short answer was my lack of English skills. I was really shocked since I’ve lived and worked in the USA for several years and I have more than 20+ years of accredited experience working with international companies where English is the common language (both technical and professional) I’m so disappointed and sad about this.
