Me postulé en línea. El proceso tomó 1 día. Acudí a una entrevista en Datadog

      Entrevista

An internal Datadog recruiter first reached out to me on LinkedIn about a role focused on a mid-level SaaS admin role, but a strong focus in AI. I saw other roles with similar job titles posted, and I asked the first recruiter if she can send me the exact role that the department is seeking to hire. I sent 2 additional follow ups - no response. Then I got a follow-up email with her colleague CC'ed, who is another internal recruiter, where I would be receiving a follow up from them for the initial screening call. I scheduled the call as normal, and when we spoke on the phone, the introduction from their end was already off to a "weak" start. I picked up saying "Hello, this is (name)", and they just said "Hi". After about 3-4 seconds of an awkward pause, I said "...Is this...(recruiter name)...?" and they said "Yes this is, from Datadog". Anyways, I started introducing myself, my professional background, and my accomplishments, and 5 minutes into the call in a 30 minute scheduled window, they were already impatient with wanting to ask their own questions and cutting me off. Apart from the rocky start, I'm not sure if there was some miscommunication, but this recruiter started asking me questions about a completely different role. When I asked him if the (initial role I was reached out to for) is what I'm interviewing for, they said "Well, yes and no. The two roles we posted are essentially the same". As I mentioned in my first paragraph, there were roles with similar titles, but the job description is completely different. So I immediately switched gears and talked about how I have experience and exposure to the things listed in this different job role. They seemed unsatisfied that I only had experience and exposure, rather than leading automations and workflows myself, so I asked him "Do you know if the department manager is expecting this role to jump into these projects Day 1?" and they just say "uhhh...I believe so" with great confidence. As much as I dislike how much ATS has taken over job applications, this experience made me realize I don't blame companies prioritizing ATS processes rather than human interactions.
