30 min screening call with HR followed by a 3 part skill test consisting of a one-line bash script challenge, JSON parsing/remapping via language of your choice, and dashboarding/SQL using tools of your choice (took roughly 4-5 hours for someone with 10 yrs IT/analytics exp). After they approved the solutions, meeting with the local U.S. team lead for 1.5 hrs, followed by the team director based in Poland for 1 hr. Each interview felt very casual and relaxed, most questions did not require following the STAR/BAR method. One interviewer even being casual enough to ask if I cared if they drank whiskey near the end. From start to end it was over a month of waiting between rounds with an average of a week between each. They opted to halt proceeding after the 3rd round when I informed the director, as I had the others, I hadn't used Linux professionally in over a decade but would pick it back up quickly. I stated that fact in the screening with HR, passed their tests to their satisfaction, and went through two more rounds of interviews before it became a problem. Incredibly disrespectful of my time, and theirs, to let the process go that far for something HR could have easily screened out, especially when they were the ones to approach me. Does not feel like HR or the team lead are on the same page as their leadership. Definitely still feels like a startup with each interviewer almost winging things as they go.

Step 1: 30 minute phone call with a recruiting manager and an engineering manager. Step 2: Basket of three tasks covering bash scripting, json manipulation, and in depth dashboard and data analysis. The three tasks encompassed about 40 hours of work.
