Fairly basic--filled in an online application form that had the usual section e.g. personal details, work experience, education and several longer questions: Why Covington and Burling? Why law? Details of extra-curricular activities. Received an email a few weeks later inviting me to interview. Interview was conducted by two solicitors, one of whom was Partner level. Interview questions were fairly easy and comprised of: What qualities do you think a solicitor needs? Which of these qualities do you struggle the most with? Why are you a good fit for this firm? Following the interview I was given a tour of the office by one of the trainees.

Nice overall experience but lots of waiting around. Lunch then group exercise, case study and interview with two partners. Case study was unlike any I had done before - it is essentially an essay question. Group exercise was okay but with around 6 other people it is difficult to contribute and you had to push your pov a bit. Interview was fine, partners are nice. Lots of hypothetic and situational questions. They pick questions from a set list and the whole AC is assessed on a numerical scale and you are given a score at the end. They don't reimburse your travel.
