First contact was a phone interview with the interim Director, was asked to come in for a casual meet and greet which was actually a full interview. Was quizzed for 25 mins via phone regarding front end development (wasn’t relevant for the role) then a junior design was asked to come into the interview to showcase her work. Was told via recruiter role wasn’t offered the role as I didn’t question the Junior enough and thus didn’t show enough enthusiasm. Role involved mentoring the junior, so had no intention of sitting and critiquing their work in front of the CIO and a director as that would be unfair on the junior. All in all the people I met were friendly and polite, passionate about the business but don’t seem to understand this role they’re hiring for and mistake being polite and quite as showing a lack of enthusiasm.
