I applied for Position "A" in the IT department at CIBC in Toronto and received an interview invite. However, during the interview, I was unexpectedly interviewed for Position "B" instead. Although this caught me off guard, I managed to perform well due to my relevant experience.
After the interview, I waited for 2-3 weeks and followed up with the recruiter, only to be told that no decision had been made yet. A few weeks later, I was contacted again for another IT position, interviewed, and then was completely ghosted.
CIBC initially gave me high hopes but ultimately ruined the experience by failing to communicate any interview feedback or results. With over 10 years of experience and being ready to start immediately after a recent layoff, I felt confident in my chances. However, I later found out that an internal candidate was chosen, making the whole process feel like a mere formality to comply with their recruitment policy. This experience left a very poor impression, and I will not be applying to CIBC again.
