First round Interview was one of those digital/hireview interviews. It was fine. Basic behavioral questions.
They rejected me, which is also fine. But they sent me the wrong rejection. I’m pretty sure the rejection was supposed to come from “my” recruiter who set up the first interview and whose contact info I had. But I got the generic “we threw out your resume at the zero-th step” rejection. It was all “Dear applicant, after careful consideration, blah blah blah…. We have decided not to interview you. Sincerely, CDW recruiting team (generic email you can’t respond to.” And I’m all, uh, you did interview me? But, also, you’re an IT company and you can’t even figure out how to automatically send candidates the right rejection. And you misspelled the word "data breaches" as "data breeches" in the job ad. I think I dodged a bullet there.

The HR manager greeted me and spoke on how I was a great fit for the role but they did not provide any follow up afterwards which was disappointing. The interview went well but when I reached out to follow up, there was no response.

The second round was a behavioral Zoom interview with a finance team member — very conversational and focused on STAR-format questions. The final round included a panel with two senior finance team members and a case-based Excel exercise involving forecasting and budget variance analysis.

"How would you explain financial data to someone without a finance background?"
"Walk me through a budgeting process you've worked on."
Excel task: Basic forecasting scenario + pivot table
Tips:
Be ready with clear, concise STAR stories
Brush up on Excel (pivot tables, vlookups, basic financial functions)
Show enthusiasm for both finance and CDW’s team-oriented culture
Overall Impression:
Professional and supportive. The team emphasized collaboration and growth. The process was not overly technical but did test practical understanding of financial concepts.
