It was a very in-depth, speedy process but well worth the outcome. First it was a phone interview with someone in HR, then two additional phone interviews and a final interview/career day out in San Mateo. The second phone interview was a case study in which they try to see how you think and analyze certain situations- testing your knowledge of their company and technology. The second phone interview was a project that was testing sales skills. Last interview was in-person in San Mateo- met with Execs and other Enterprise Business representatives.
The whole process was hard work, but the job will be too. The interview process will truly weed out anyone who isn't sure if they want the position or that type of job. Although hard work, it was very rewarding and makes you think about if you want a career in sales or not. The final interview in San Mateo was perfect for getting a feel for the company culture and other members of their team.
I used Glassdoor when I was preparing for my interview and saw a lot of negative comments. That is why I felt compelled to write a positive review of my interview experience and view of the new company culture they are implementing. They identified their areas of weakness and worked to great measures to turn those weaknesses into strengths. Truly a great company and I could not be more excited to work for them.

I went through 2 rounds of phone interviews. The first was with a recruiter who responded very quickly after I had applied and was very professional/helpful with tips for the position. The second interviewer wasn't very friendly & had a really uninterested demeanor over the phone. It felt like she had a million other things that she preferred to be doing.
Ultimately, I never heard back from anyone (which I guess fits in with the second interview's result). I found it unprofessional because the second interviewer did specifically mention that someone would at least reach out to confirm what the result was. I worked hard on the interview preparation & truly respected the company, so I just found it in very bad taste to not even provide some closure for a candidate. Not offering a job is fine, but I just think it's a sign of bad character to not even follow up with someone when 1) you said that you would and 2) the candidate really respected the company.

In one sentence, how would you describe the BrightEdge platform?

After applying, a BrightEdge recruiter reached out to me to see if I would be a good fit to recommend to the company. The recruiter then helps you prepare for both your initial phone interview and if all goes well, you must pass an online skills test regarding SEO and organic search. After passing that, they invite you in for an in person interview with a round of managers and VP of sales. You could tell the company really cares about who they hire and are looking for the smartest and most coachable people to join their team. I came into the interview with sales experience but little to no knowledge of SEO.

Tell me about yourself. Why BrightEdge? Why Sales? How would you handle an objection? Describe a time when you were struggling and how you overcame it. A lot of standard interview questions, but also a few challenging ones that really make you think.

initial interview consisted of 3 steps, the first was a phone screen with the recruiter that just asked basic questions like why BE, why sales, etc.... The second was a second more in-depth phone interview with a manager. And third was an in person interview with several employees in different sales roles, such as an Enterprise Business Rep, a Sales Manager, an AE, and VP of Sales. Definitely an eye-opening and insightful interview process - BrightEdge gives you a real account of what to expect in the role, and also what they expect out of someone the the EBR role.
