      Entrevista

      I applied for the position online through their website. I was contact by Rae (recruiter) asking me to provide a writing sample. It was a handful of mock potential customer questions that needed to be answered - one was in the form of a Tweet and the others were in e-mail format. Every question could be answered using Square's online support website. After I sent that back, Rae contacted me asking when I would be available for a phone interview. I spoke with a member of the support team on the phone (Amy?) and she was very nice. She asked me some very basic questions about my experience and background. I asked her opinions on Square - said she loved working at Square because of their dedication to customers and making commerce easy (that's their "mission statement"). After that, I was contacted by another recruiter, Beth, to set up an in-person interview. I am still in school in North Carolina, which made it difficult for me to find a time to fly to SF to interview without missing classes - they were extremely understanding and instead set up a Skype interview (arranged by a third recruiter - Liz). I spoke with two more members of the support team (Carly & Alex maybe? Names are hard for me). Both were very nice. Carly was very friendly and easygoing - said she liked that I am a self-starter. Alex was a little more critical, but in an evaluative way, not a flippant, "you're-not-good-enough" way. They were a little more in-depth with their questions. They asked me about a time I had worked with a difficult customer and it hadn't turned out well, where I saw Square fitting into my larger career path, what I looked for in a manager, how well I worked in a team, questions like that. They both really love the environment at Square (that seemed to be an overall theme). After that I spoke with another employee (not in support) who asked about why I wanted to work at Square, etc. More of the same. Everyone I talked to seemed to like me and was responsive to what I had to say. All of them also really love the company! Lastly, I spoke with Beth who informed me that they really needed to hire someone immediately. I went through this process mid-January-beginning of February 2014 and am not set to graduate until May. Beth invited me to recontact them closer to my graduation date and see if there is anything available.

      The entire interview process took about 3 weeks. First there was a writing sample they ask for which is very easy. The next step was a phone mock call. I was pretty nervous because I wasn’t sure how the role playing would go but the rep was super friendly and fed me the info before hand & I just navigated through the call showing my customer service skills. It wasn’t really about getting the info right but more so how can u resolve an issue effectively. The last step was in on site interview that lasted about an hour. I met w/ 2 hiring “team leads” for 30min each. The first hiring manager was pretty laid back & did ask basic interview questions but it was more conversational. The 2nd was a little more direct (reading through a list of questions) and his questions were longer/more complex. Overall my experience was great everyone was superb friendly & the office is so awesome!

      Entrevista

      I quickly received a response to my application and followed up with a simple writing sample. I had a phone interview a couple of days later that included a mock phone call, followed by an in person interview about a week later. The in person interview was at the same time as several other interviews. I interviewed with two managers that asked standard interview questions. I thought it went well with the first manager but couldn't get a read from the second. I received a rejection email about a week after the interview but was not given any feedback.
