Contacted by a recruiter after being referred. Went over basics of position and then was given assignment to create online store. Had 30-45 min video chat with direct manager. Whole process was moving smoothly until I FLEW across the country to go meet the team in person. After 20 minute face-to-face with my prospective manager, I sat in on their weekly "All-Hands" Meeting. I was told that I was going to have to conduct the final portion of the interview process from home the following week because the Chief Revenue Officer was supposedly traveling.
To my surprise, the CRO was indeed in the office that day and not on the road as what was told to me. Despite this odd development, I proceeded to meet with two members of the team I was interviewing with, but after about 10-15 minutes, was told by one of them that "I have to go home to my wife" and cut the interview short. Mind you that this was about 4:45 in the afternoon.
I was led out by the other team member and was told that I would "definitely" be moving on to the next step in the process (call with the CRO, even though it was already scheduled). Then received email the following Monday that I was out of the running for the job, call with the CRO be damned. No response or explanation. Probably dodged a bullet and it speaks to the type of place that would conduct an interview process this poorly.

Nothing out of the ordinary. Very straightforward.

Went through a few rounds of interviews with a take home exercise and all of the teams were very nice and HR was helpful throughout the process. I interviewed in 2 different organizations at BC and had a nice experience both times.

Overall not the best experience. I really like BigCommerce's product and other members of the team I met.
However, the recruiter I was assigned was nearly impossible to get in touch with. She'd ask for availability, then never confirm the time at which we'd speak. She'd call out of the blue or a the wrong time and leave a voicemail that made it clear she had no idea she was the one in the wrong.
This happened twice before we finally agreed to a correct time and she confirmed. I was then completely stood up for this interview. I was given no notice, no email, and I even called BigCommerce's main line to reach her and still couldn't get through. She then emails me days later without even referencing the incident.
I finally was able to nail down a time by getting help from another employee I know.
Once we had a conversation, she was helpful and amicable. Overall it was a straightforward phone screen about my experience and the role. Ultimately she indicated that the role might not be a good fit based on what I was looking for and I agreed, but mentioned openness to the role.
Shortly after she left a voicemail with a kind and courteous rejection.

A member of their recruiting team emailed to set up a time for me to speak with a recruiter. The recruiter I spoke with was actually a consultant--someone BigCommerce has hired to help them fill positions. The consultant recruiter had little interest in what I had to say. The phone screen was one of the shortest I've ever had because she cut it abruptly. She seemed exhausted. She promised that her assistant would get back to me within the day but that never happened. I followed up with an email further expressing my interest in the role that was ignored. I received a rejection email from someone else a couple of days later. It's really unfortunate that I wasn't able to speak to someone from their internal recruiting team because I believe that I'm a great fit for the role and am really interested in working for BigCommerce--I think someone from their internal recruiting team would have easily seen this if I had had a chance to speak with them.
