Received an unsolicited message from the CEO on LinkedIn. The CEO seems very knowledgeable and engaged within the industry, so I accepted an interview request. The technical interviewer was a no-show for the scheduled interview. After reaching back out to the CEO, the interview was rescheduled for a few days later. Unfortunately, I wasn’t entirely impressed with the preparedness or knowledge of the analyst performing the interview. The questions didn’t seem prepared and were a bit scattered. Additionally, I got a sense that the interviewer didn’t have a strong grasp of some technical concepts that were being questioned (I.e., there were several mispronunciations of industry standard acronyms). I was asked my desired salary range, and received a bit of silence when I provided a number that was well within the parameters for the role type, desired education/certifications, and years of experience. Within a few business days I received a short note from the analyst who performed the interview stating that I wasn’t a good fit.
The people I spoke with a genuinely good people and have a passion for what they do. Even though my experience was subpar, I’d still recommend people interview here. However, candid feedback for the organization: The recruitment process should definitely be tightened up a bit.
