Me postulé a través de un reclutador. Acudí a una entrevista en Bench Accounting (Vancouver, BC) en oct 2019

Weird process. Out of the blue one of their recruiters reached out to me for a phone interview saying that my qualifications would make me a good fit for the bookkeeper position. The phone call went extremely well and I was invited for a in-person interview at the end of the call. I came in the following week for the interview . The office was really nice but looked more like a social club. With most people sitting around and socializing in the reception and kitchen area, the place didn't scream professionalism. That was fine though. If anything, I think that makes you a bit more relaxed about the whole process. After waiting 5 mins for the interviewers, they came around and led me to a little meeting room where we had the interview. It started off with one of the interviewers giving me a whole run down on the company and the job for what felt like 10 mins. The interview was mainly focused behavioral questions, why bench, and my experiences. It seemed like they had no idea about my background and hadn't even looked at my resume though, which I found a bit odd. The interviewers were very friendly and seemed to react positively to all of my responses. At the end, they asked me about my availability, provided me a few more details about the job, and told me the recruiter would be in touch about the next few "administrative steps". I thought I had all but gotten the job at this point. 24 hours later I was sent a generic rejection email saying that they had stronger candidates to fulfill the positions. This seemed odd given that I had previously done some accounting and database work, yet they were mainly hiring people with zero knowledge or experience in bookkeeping. Additionally, they made it a point to make me feel I was a shoo-in for the position. I politely requested some feedback on the decision but was given no response.
The whole process appeared to have little basis on merit. The accounting team lead that you meet with will likely be your team lead if you get the job, so by any means, make sure they like you and feel you'll give anything for this job. The whole process definitely shed light on why they have so many scathing reviews from former/current employees, but it's one of these boom and bust companies. They won't care. Anyways best of luck to all of you!

- a few levels of interviews, first an introduction call, then they sent over a take home task, and then an interview with two people
- one take home task, but it was fairly easy

Very easy back in 2023. Meet one of HRs, then a manager and a team lead from fellow team to see if you fit! Then you get accepted an wait for a few weeks for on boarding
Behavioural interview with HR, technical component testing basic excel skills, meeting with team lead. HR was very helpful and sent over powerpoint slides with details regarding the different steps in the interview process

Why Bench?
Name a time you failed to meet a goal, and what did you take away from that experience?
