First Interview has been a good pre-screening. Second Interview has been an Interview with the Sales Manager wich has been wasted time for myself and backbase. Upfront: the position is an absolut beginner position in (of cours) a pretty serious field - the banking industry. However, I've been working more than 5 years in professional positions and experienced a sales manager who has truly just 1 year of professional sales experience who is has talking and acting herself way more important than she is. The questions has been pretty generic: What have you done in sales? How have you acquired new customer? Why do you want to change? A big advice to the German sales manager: If you want to hear specific answers than ask specific questions! That's how easy it is and that's how experienced prospects, sales persons and in general experienced people structure their interviews. Another big point wich was making me just head shaking - I don't see the logic when I got invited to an interview and the interviewer tells me how awesome she has acquired new customer and how proud she is and what she has achieved so far and what she is doing to become better in sales. It's fairly wasted time for the person who got invited. Than better ask the question how the potential candidate want's to improve in sales. I got rejected with the answer "too junior". It's fine to say, that I'm not fitting in the profile from my personality, or that others made a stronger impression, gave better answers or still no match. But giving the answer "too junior" from a person who has just one year experience is hilarious. It has been a total unprofessional experience and wasted time for me and backbase. Backbase is great company and I think their are working great people but this coincidens brought up a fairly awkward interview and teached me that its more important to get to know your potential new manager than your potential new company.
