Got a first interview with a recruiter. It was 1:1, he gave an account of the company and I talked through my background. Stage 1. I was asked a few questions like "what do you know about Detica", just to find out if I'd done any research at all. One basic question about OO programming - outline a class that creates different types of pens. Didn't feel like the interview went particularly well as I was quite nervous and was prompted through my answers, but I was offered a second stage interview. Stage 2. I gave a presentation about my PhD and talked a lot about what it is like to work for the company. Was asked to work through the development cycle for a piece of software. Very friendly but I never heard back after this, which I found extremely rude. I suspect that they couldn't quite place me as I had a maths background not comp sci. but they knew this after the first round interview. I expect that the recruiter couldn't be bothered te reply to my e-mails once he knew I didn't get the job. All in all a bit of a waste of time as I received no useful feedback.
