      Solicitud

Me postulé a través de un reclutador. El proceso tomó más de 1 semana. Acudí a una entrevista en Axis Max Life Insurance (New York, NY) en abr 2015

      Entrevista

The first interview was face to face with the recruiting coordinator. She asked me about my personal experience and life. Besides, she asked me about my skills, personality, personal characteristics, knowledge, and aptitude. The recruitment process has three steps. First, the face to face interview with the recruiting coordinator. Second, a Career Opportunity Class to show you what you will do. Third, an interview with a top manager. I did not accept the position, because is a based commission salary position. You need to earn your own money. The problem is that you have 3 months before to start your sales process. Thereby, you will have three months without salary until you have your license and start to make your own clients.

      Entrevista

I did not apply for this role, they suddenly approached me out of the blue and invited me to do an interview. They were not worried that I didn't have industry specific skills and experience because all they are looking for are warm human bodies to exploit. They call it being a "Financial Advisor" but what they really mean is that you will be an insurance sales rep, or insurance sales agent, who only gets paid on commission when you sell something. In other words it is a "job", if you can call it a job, without any guaranteed salary. They should just call it what it is instead of deliberately creating false impressions so that they can find people to take advantage of. They say that they offer training, but I understand that the training mostly consists of being asked to make a list of the 1000 people that are closest to you and then being told that you must sell insurance policies to these people. In other words, the only reason why they invite you to an interview is not because they are interested in the value of your skills and experience but because they want access to your network of family and friends so that they can sell their insurance policies. Meanwhile you have to get used to telling lies to your family and friends; and you have to get used to emotionally blackmailing your family and friends into buying a product they don't need. Most of their new recruits will fail, and they know this but they don't care, they continue having an insatiable appetite for hiring more and more recruits. This is because you take on all the risk, they have nothing to lose if you fail because they haven't invested anything in you. It is easy to get excited and flattered when you are invited to a do a job interview for such a big company which is worth billions of dollars, but the reason why they are big and rich is because of a history and a culture of exploiting people. They have a history of providing insurance to the slave trade; when a slave would die their insurance policy would pay out not to the slave's family but it would instead pay out to the slave owner. This historical and cultural disregard for the value of human labour was evident in how they insured the slave trade and they continue today to show the same disregard for the value of human labour when they are calling people to interviews for "jobs" as "Financial Advisors". When they invited me to do an interview, I got so worked up about how to prepare for the interview; I worried about whether or not I would be able to give the right answers to their questions. There is actually no need to worry about all these things if they call you for an interview; as long as you are breathing, have a heart beat, and are prepared to go along with everything they say, then you have passed the interview. At the end of the interview I said no thanks because I would prefer to have a real job. If you are looking for a real job, you should not even waste your time by going to the interview when they invite you for an interview, because this is not a real job.
