Entrevista
I was hesitant to write a review because of repercussions but that would be selfish of me for future applicants that are looking for a solid working environment.
This was the most racist interview I've ever been to. First half was done by the HR manager, and the second half was done by a director (forget specifically which department but he was an old white male). First half was fine, until the white male started speaking. I noticed in front of him was a sheet of paper that had ESL written on it and he had those notes coming in. The first thing he asks me is "I noticed that on your application you said you can speak and write chinese, are you okay with speaking and writing in English without having someone to check your work?". He goes on and say "because this job requires a lot of writing". (I've also checked that I speak, write, read English perfectly fine. I'm fluent in it. It's my first language but he focuses on that specific part).
First of all, I'm a post graduate student at Uoft (if you didn't know, you actually have to do the degree in English). Secondly, I just did the entire 1st part of the interview perfectly fine and submitted a resume + application that is written in English.
The interview gets worst with him. He literally pulls question from the top of his head. I also feel like he already has a preconceived notion that I am not capable of doing the job right because I'm not white so he made some questions up and kept questioning my choice of answer specifically if I can communicate... He also finishes off questioning my integrity because I told them I'm not comfortable with asking my manager for reference without a conditional offer, but I did mention I don't mind asking for one if it's needed. He quickly answers "Ah-hah, so you didn't tell your manager you're looking for another job". First of all, I wasn't completely sure I want to leave my current job - obviously people look at factors before moving to a new job. I'm not going to risk my job for a mere interest in a company.
Anyways, I would not recommend this company to anyone.
