I applied through the City of Austin website. Within a few days I received an email from an IT-Administrative Assistant with an interview slot. I just had to confirm. The interview was a panel of four including the hiring manager, the IT manager and two others. It lasted one hour and consisted of a series of 12 questions that were posted in front of me. It was a mix of behavioral and technical questions. I had practiced these questions so the interview was not too difficult. I received an email about a week later that the position was canceled for the time being but would be reposted later.
