Written application with standard questions, such as why you want to work for Atkins. Standard psychometric tests. I had a telephone interview, I heard that some candidates got asked actual interview questions but I was pretty much just told that I was invited to an assessment centre.
The assessment centre was for a systems engineer in the rail area, it consisted of a technical interview, a written exercise and a group exercise.

A system is a combination of interacting elements, organised to achieve one or more stated purposes. For a railway system as a whole split it into no more than 10 subsystems and list them (e.g. traction power).
Referring to the subsystems described in your answer to Question 1, identify five main failure modes and describe what the effects of the failure might be on the operational railway.

Entrevista
The assessment centre was split into two online events (due to Covid-19), two weeks apart. The first involved a 30-minute technical test focused on systems engineering problem solving, followed by a 90-minute business interview with two engineers. This interview began with 30 minutes of the interviewers going through my test answers, with me providing justification and clarification on each answer.
The second event comprised a group activity and a short individual 'report style' written task. Both activities involved fictitious engineering scenarios with supporting documents to read before attempting each task.
Both events ran smoothly and were planned well.
