      Table test (roulette and blackjack) with maths before sit down interview with one line manager and training school manager plus his deputy on the table test. The questions were largely logistical and less about the skills required

      Entrevista

      First of all I was invited via email to attend a recruitment day, I showed up and it was mostly people who looked as though they were only there so they could get their dole. There was 8 potential candidates present including myself. The recruitment day lasted just under 2 hours Firstly we all introduced ourselves. We were given five minutes to prepare a one minute speech "about ourselves" with no other instruction. I decided to talk about my sloppy gambling habits whilst other people decided to talk about their amazing customer service skills. Next of all we were given a group task. We were given a worksheet which had "outstanding customer service is..." and "outstanding customer service isn't". We did this in twos, before teaming up into fours and writing our results on a flip chart board, before presenting it to the other half of potential candidates. Continuing on, we were separated around the room and handed a math test. Math test consisted of 15 questions, which were all casino related. (ie multiples of 35, multiples of 17, multiples of 11). I was allowed to jot down workings out so don't be worried about doing this. Lastly we all returned together as a group, discussed maths test results, had the opportunity to ask any questions about the position etc. We were told they'd let us all know if we were successful or unsuccessful at recruitment day via email, and if we were successful we would be offered an interview. I was successful, and was offered an interview the next day. It took approximately 15 minutes, I met with the same member of staff who hosted the recruitment day. We sat down, was asked a few easy questions which took 5 minutes. Finally, a dexterity test. I was taken to a roulette table and asked to stack up some chips. I was also asked to handle a stack of 20 chips and break them down into piles of 4 or 5. This took about 2 minutes. I was then taken to a blackjack table and was asked to deal a hand of blackjack, which I knew. However he did offer guidance on this so if you are unsure on how to do this, don't panic. I was then told "thank you, I'll let you know", and promptly got escorted to the door and left. I left feeling like it didn't go very well and that I was unsuccessful. I however received an email six (yes, six) days later confirming that I had been successful and I was given a place on the six weeks training school. Upon successful completion of the training school, you will be offered a permanent position.
