First round went pretty well, talked a lot about my past experience, major accomplishments I’ve made in a fintech environment and left thinking that the technical round for the second stage would be easy enough. Second interviewer had poor understanding of SRE… everything. It felt like I had to explain details that were largely irrelevant and minuscule in comparison to the more technical hurdles I overcame. I was then given a generic leetcode algorithm question, which had absolutely no relevance to my field. Mentioned that I could solve it if I had access to docs/Google, but I was told that “I’m not always going to have access to Google for solutions”. Experience felt pretty humiliating honestly and left me with the impression that they do not know what they are hiring for. Additionally, the interviewer carried it 45 minutes past the scheduled time and expressed frustration that it ran over. Please tighten up your interview process and have someone with SRE experience interview for your SRE role.
