Initially had 3 phone screens with 2 managers and the Lead Hardware Architect. These asked about background and were behavioral regarding how I approach situations as a manager, leading others, coaching, hiring, and firing.
Then came on-site interviews, which was a day-long interview panel with 6 people. Tiring day but I felt I had the right background and didn't have any issues answering the management and some technical questions about server architecture.
The entire process from phone interviews to starting job took about 8 weeks.

Draw a picture on the white-board of a typical block-diagram level Intel-architecture motherboard.
Scripted, for specific words. But that also makes it clear what to expect. Practice with the available stories and you are set. All questions are tell me about a time style so prepare well. The system engineering questions are straightforward but prepare to dig deep. Overall, so much info is available that with enough practice you should be ok
Strenuous and long. 2 pre interviews followed by 5 interviews in the day testing all competencies. Interviewers were great. The process was very long and unfortunately missed out to an internal candidate.

I applied online, got feedback via email that I was selected for 1st stage interview, provided available timeslots across next 4 weeks or so, then the call was scheduled. All well organized and professional.

Technical/academic questions that seemed to be not related to the role - but around my resume. I didn't like that the interview didn't match (at all :-)) their interview prep guidelines (no behavioral questions etc.) but I appreciated that Amazon designated a very senior guy to spend 1hr just on a screening call.
